Come to the House of Commons and hear for yourself

Another hat tip for Union Futures.

This time for the report of next Tuesday evening's meeting, at 7.30pm in Committee Room 6 at the House of Commons, where UNISON member John McDonnell MP will host an opportunity to hear from UNISON activists Glenn Kelly and Caroline Bedale about what has been happening in their cases and - from Glenn - about disturbing evidence given in an employment tribunal by a UNISON Regional official.

For more details follow the link to Union Futures.

I understand that toys have been thrown out of prams elsewhere in the blogosphere at the fact that this meeting is taking place. It may be that the news of the meeting has not been welcomed with unalloyed joy in all parts of our Union.

However, all UNISON members are entitled to attend this meeting at the House of Commons - and anyone who wants to hear what the speakers have to say about what has been going on should do so.

Injustice thrives on secrecy, and those who behave properly have nothing to fear from scrutiny.

I shall be there on Tuesday night and if anyone at Mabledon Place, Congress House or anywhere else, has any questions, comments or problems about or with this meeting please direct them here.

Good luck for the meeting. You are correct John, witch hunters thrive in the darkness that is their natural habitat and go about their business under the banner of 'confidentiality'. All of us who face attacks need to shout it from the highest peak, shaming these people in front of the membership. Sadly my new job and shifts mean I cannot make it down to give some Yorkshire and Humberside dimension to the meeting. I understand a motion to Yorks and Humb Regional Council raising the issue of the failure to declare me the elected NEC member for the Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Male Seat despite securing the greatest vote was...surprise surpise ruled out of order. This is for 2 reasons, the first is I complained, the second is that I am being disciplined! So there you have it, no discussion is allowed in the crazy world of UNISON.
