Now I know I said earlier today that I would blog further about the extension of the right to request flexible working to all parents of children under 16.
But I am on the way home now, and it's the kids' holidays.

Yes, its true that the new law extending the right to request flexibility is a good thing, but I did always feel that this was a "right" in a rather strange sense of the word.
ReplyDeleteIt only gives people the right to *ask* for the flexible hours - employers can still turn them down.
And, I don't know about anyone else, but I don't feel like I can ask for flexible hours, since I can barely afford to pay my bills with my full time wage, never mind dropping to part time.
