A funny thing has happened at our website this bank holiday weekend. The list of "examples" about which I have blogged, somewhat intemperately, before (http://jonrogers1963.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/lies-damned-lies-and-examples.html?m=1) has been removed from the list of links to documents concerning the LGPS 2014 proposals (http://www.unison.org.uk/pensions/lgps.asp).
You can still find the document online at http://www.unison.org.uk/acrobat/LGPS2014Examples.pdf - but there is no current direct link from the UNISON website. Meanwhile, at the LGPS website (http://www.lgps.org.uk/lge/core/page.do?pageId=15431012) we are told that examples of benefits under the new scheme "will follow shortly".
If the link has been taken down so that the document itself can be corrected so that it is based upon realistic assumptions about future trends in prices and earnings this will enable a proper evaluation of LGPS 2014 against LGPS 2008 on an honest basis.
Whatever view one takes of the proposals, that would be a good thing.
