Men fight and lose the battle, and the thing that they fought for comes about in spite of their defeat, and when it comes turns out not to be what they meant, and other men have to fight for what they meant under another name. (William Morris - A Dream of John Ball)

UNITE confirm support for local government strike action on Tuesday 14 October

http://www.unitetheunion.org/news/new-minimum-wage-is-a-disgrace-as-council-workers-struggle-to-pay-bills-says-unite/

This press release makes clear that UNITE members in local government are expected to support the strike action on Tuesday week.

The "proposal" to make a pay offer which was even worse than the miserable offer against which we took strike action on 10 July, and which was floated by the employers' negotiators in an attempt to derail our campaign has comprehensively failed to achieve its aim.
Trade union activists now face the significant challenge of persuading our members to support the strike action which must be effective if we are to reverse the decline in our standard of living.
