Men fight and lose the battle, and the thing that they fought for comes about in spite of their defeat, and when it comes turns out not to be what they meant, and other men have to fight for what they meant under another name. (William Morris - A Dream of John Ball)

Solidarity with Barnet Library strikers

http://www.barnetunison.me.uk/wp/2016/06/06/for-immediate-release-three-day-strike-called-by-barnet-council-library-workers/

UNISON members in Barnet's libraries today commence three days of strike action‎ against plans from their right-wing Tory employers to outsource, cut jobs and leave libraries unstaffed for the majority of the time.

Across the country library services are in the front line, facing savage cuts to services upon which our communities have relied for decades. Workers in Barnet have been guinea pigs for the Tory experiment in the destruction of locally accountable public services for years now.

Fortunately, Barnet UNISON has also been in the front line of developing imaginative and determined resistance to the ideologically motivated onslaught on our welfare state.

Good luck comrades!
