Men fight and lose the battle, and the thing that they fought for comes about in spite of their defeat, and when it comes turns out not to be what they meant, and other men have to fight for what they meant under another name. (William Morris - A Dream of John Ball)

Meanwhile, outside the Conference bubble...

UNISON (and our General Secretary) have sent a message of support to our members on strike today at Downhills Primary School in Haringey, against enforced Academy status (http://www.unison.org.uk/news/news_view.asp?did=7884).

I understand from my friend and comrade, Haringey Branch Secretary, Sean Fox that the strike has been 100% solid with 30 pickets from UNISON and NUT, and a busload of strikers sent to Westminster to take their message to Gove.

Solidarity!
