Men fight and lose the battle, and the thing that they fought for comes about in spite of their defeat, and when it comes turns out not to be what they meant, and other men have to fight for what they meant under another name. (William Morris - A Dream of John Ball)

Beware mobile phone theft

I haven’t been blogging much, because I have been spending the time I have campaigning for our Labour Party, but I have to say something about the day on which the Prime Minister was filmed nicking a mobile phone.

In a marvellous combination of denial and arrogance, Johnson pocketed a journalist’s phone rather than look at the picture he was being shown on it. (In the mean time the Labour Leader was addressing a rally far larger than any Johnson has addressed).

The Tories, knowing they were in trouble, then made up a story about a Tory aide being punched by a Labour activists (ably assisted by two “leading journalists” who regurgitated what they were told by the Tories without bothering to check facts). The BBC were rewarded for their service when Johnson made up a new policy of abolishing the licence fee… in order to distract from his venture into phone theft.

I have no idea what the outcome of this General Election will be (which is something I have in common with everyone else) but, if there were any justice in the world, Johnson would now – finally and as he deserves – simply be a laughing stock.
